- ItemHouseboats to embrace new wastewater treatment tech(THE NEW INDIAN EXPRESS, 2025-10-15)Kerala's backwaters, choking due to indiscriminate discharge of wastewater, are set to get a breather thanks to an initiative to set up onboard wastewater treatment technology for houseboats. At present, most of the houseboats operating in Alappuzha and nearby districts lack a proper wastewater treatment system on board. This has led to discharge of large amount of untreated wastewater directly into the backwaters, severely degrading water quality and affecting the ecosystem.

- ItemKochi gets largest govt-owned slipway cradle(TIMES OF INDIA, 2025-10-14)Fishery Survey of India (FSI) has built a slipway cradle in Kochi, which will help transfer fishing boats and research vessels for maintenance. The 250-tonne capacity slipway cradle will support docking and maintenance capabilities for a diverse range of vessels from fishermen's boats to research vessels. Built at a cost of Rs. 1.78 crore, the cradle is a heavy-duty steel structural platform designed for safe hauling and launching of vessels. It is the largest govt-owned vessel cradle facility ever established in the country.
