Abstract
The coastal fishing communities solely depend on marine resources for their livelihood and the role fisherwomen plays are integral for the maintenance and economic prosperity of the family. The contribution of women in fisheries is substantial, especially in various subsidiary activities of capture fisheries such as sorting, grading, peeling, value addition, trading and aquaculture practices ranging from breeding and rearing of fish to marketing.
