Abstract
There are about 6500 small and me dium sized trawlers in Gujarat.some en gagd in dai ly fishing trips and some in muhiday lishing act ivity.coveri ng 8-10 da)s at a stretch. The boats operate two sam bouom tra\\ Is with head rope size ranging from ::!5 to 35m for catching fish and shellfish at a depth range of ::!0 to 100 m. Tite net is made of HOPE webbing of 1.5-2.5 mm dia. The mesh size in the fore pan of the net varies from 80-800 mm. \\ hercas the codend mesh size is only 10-15 mm.
