Abstract
Gill net is a highly selective and passive gear accounting for 20% of all the fishing methods of the world. The simplicity of its design, construction, operation and its low energy requirement make the gear very popular in all the sectors especially in the traditional sector.
It is a highly selective gear and the use of this gear in a responsible way ensures resource
conservation.
