    Survival of Listeria monocytogenses in water subjected to different levels of chlorination

    The concentration of chlorine required to destroy all viable cells of Listeria monocytogenes present in the water used for seafood processing is studied. Based on these studies, it is recommended that the factories should chlorinate water supply to a reduced level of 10 ppm Cl sub(2) giving minimum contact time of 5 minutes.
