Electronic instruments play a vital role in collection of data for investigations in riverine and reservoir fisheries . The data collected will help to make realistic estimation of the resources and better understanding of related problems . The paper discusses the measurements made with electronic instruments developed by the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, viz ., water current meter, depth meter, speed log . sedimentation monitor, turbidity meter and imported instruments such as echo sounder and global positioning system in rivers and reservoirs . Such data can be incorporated in geographical information system for better planning, management and harvesting of resources .en_US
