- ItemFish in nutrition and economy(Seafood Exporters Association of India, 1976) Kandoran, M.K.A general account is given of the role of fish in world food supply. The distribution of protein and nutritional aspects of fish are considered, together with the extent to which world fisheries have developed to meet the increased demands for food. - ItemIs there any excess capacity in our fish processing (freezing) plants(Seafood Exporters Association of India, 1983) Iyer, H.K.; Rao, P.S.; Unnithan, G.R.; Nair, A.K.K.Almost all shrimps landed in India are processed and exported frozen. A survey was undertaken to estimate the idle capacity existing in the fish processing (freezing) plants in India. Results indicate substantial underutilization of the plants exists. Constraints faced by the fish processors and some remedial measures to reduce the idle capacity are discussed

Making use of notations to explain the production process to suit a set of conditions, models based on mathematical principles can be developed which can ultimately help us to arrive at optimum level of production, process of minimum expenditure and so on.

- ItemPattern of rejections of frozen shrimp at Cochin(Dixitulu J.V.H., 1988) Joseph, M.T.; Rajagopal, V.; Rao, K.K.Frozen shrimp is an export oriented product. It accounts for over 80% of the earnings from the exports of various marine products. There are 3 main types of pack - HL, PD and PUD with 10 to 15 size grades in each type. As this item has to compete with similar products of many other countries in sophistiocated markets, the quality of the product ios very important. To maintain high quality of the product, specifications are laid down and the Export inspection agency conducts preshipment inspection of the lots to ensure that the products meet these specifications. To understand the distribution of the different types of pack in the exported lots, the representation of the different size grades in these lots and the incidence of rejections, a study was conducted for the entire three year period of 1983-'85 for the shrimp freezing plants located at Cochin and the results are reported here.
